*Manufactory, Water Power indicates a factory in the Water Power District on the West Side of the Rock River, south of the Railroad Bridge and north of the Morgan St. Bridge.  There was a race, i.r. a man-made canal area where water was diverted from the river and a mill, and these generated power.  Mill St. and Race St. were in this area and still are.  Many factories were located there.
