1201 National Ave., built in 1902. Architect: Lawrence Buck. First occupant: Charles Brantingham, co-owner of Emerson-Brantingham Co., who employed 5000 men from this county in 1905, when the city’s population was 50,000, including elderly, women and children. The company manufactured carriage, wagons, plows, farm implements, and eventually evolved into J. I. Case Co.
According to www.rockfordtownshipassessor.net, the current owner is Edward Noakes (since 2013). It was a fluke that we were there during renovation/remodeling his house. We do not usually having a before, during and after set of photographs for every house in Rockford!
