“W. H. Cook & Son, local contractors, will build the quarter-million dollar building, pictured above, in which the offices of the Rockford Morning Star and the Rockford Register-Republic will be located after its completion next spring. The general contract for the building was let yesterday and construction will begin before Sept.1. Massive foundations for the huge structure have been under way for several weeks and will be completed by Ray Mann, contractor in charge, early next month. Until the new building is finished, the editorial and business offices of both newspapers will continue at their present location on North Wyman St.”
