The nine acre gardens are at 318 Spring Creek Road
They are open May 1 – October 31
The purpose of Japanese gardening is to create an environment that is restorative to the soul.
Tim Gruner has been the gardening curator for the past 20 years.
Anderson invited renowned garden landscape designer Hoichi Kurisu of Portland, Oregon to design the gardens in 1978
The gardens drew about 40,000 visitors in 2008
