“Pvt. Joe Rotello (above) 22, son of Mrs. and Mrs. Andrew J. Rotello, 2015 School St., has won the wings and boots of an army volunteer paratrooper after completing his fifth and qualifying leap at the Fort Benning, Ga. parachute school, and now is enrolled in a radio communication course. He attended Rockford High School before entering the service Sept. 20, 1943. Two uncles, Anthony and Jasper Rotello, are also in the service. Anthony is with the marines in the South Pacific and Jasper is with the army at Camp Wheeler, Ga.”
