WWII – Army Curran, Edward “Jay”
drafted into the Army September 1943. After completing basic training at Camp Wolters, Texas he was sent to Europe in early 1944. Served with 2rd Infantry Division, 119th Regiment, Cp. D, specializing in heavy weapons. Jay was wounded by enemy fire on August 21, 1944, awarded Purple Heart. He returned to his unit in November 1944 and to Battle of the Bulge. He finished his service in Magdeburg, Germany. Discharged in August of 1945, died 11/18/2013.

James A. Wehrheim was at one time body guard for General Eisenhower, wounded at Battle of the Bulge, Germany awarded the Purple Heart, died 10/21/2007

drafted by army Fall 1942; fought in North Africa fought in invasion of Italy, Jeep driver on an LCT for invasion of Normandy fought in Battle of the Bulge; interpreted for German. Died 9/23/2008.

Beadel, Thomas E.
Born in Scranton, Pa., April 18, 1922, to Peter Edward Beadel and Florence Joynt Beadel.
Highly decorated veteran of WWII who served in several key battles in the European Theater, including Omaha Beach and the Battle of the Bulge.
Died July 9, 2014 at OSF St. Anthony Hospital.
Burial in a private ceremony along the Florida coast.
A small private ceremony will be held at the Bickford House in Rockford.

Luedtke, Robert “Bob” Burnell
Belvidere—-
Born August 28, 1923, son of Fred and Nancy (Vowles) Luedtke in Belvidere, IL.
1941 graduate of Belvidere High School.
Enlisted in the military in 1943. Bob proudly served in the 265th Field Artillery Battalion in the Army, WWII, 1943 – 1946. He fought bravely in the Battle of the Bulge.
Died May 8, 2014
Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel, burial in Belvidere Cemetery.
