John Foreman Munce, born July 31, 1924, to John Gilliam and Nancy Foreman Munce in Richmond, Virginia.

Married Jean Anderson Munce.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, fighting in the Battle of Bulge and receiving a Purple Heart.

Dual engineering degrees from Purdue University.

Came to Rockford in 1972.

17 year employee of Eclipse, Inc.

Retired to Mountain Home, Arkansas; returned to Rockford 2012.

Died Dec. 13, 2014 at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center.

Bertrand, Richmond E. “Dick”

Richmond E. “Dick” Bertrand, 95, ¬†born April 13, 1919, in Rockford, the son of Edward and Anna (Weir) Bertrand.

Served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Founder of Rockford Industrial Welding Supply Co.

Member of First Evangelical Free Church and Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Country Club,

Died Sept. 23, 2014 at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center.

Larson, Carl ‘Willard’

Born January 17, 1920, the son of Robert J. and Inez M. Larson.

Married in Rockford.

A U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and Korea.

Died July 25, 2914, at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center.

Sunset Funeral Home; St. Mark Lutheran Church; services at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center; burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
