Text: Workmen begin pouring concrete Friday for the sluiceways of the Keith Creek impounding dam being built by the city east of Alpine Road to protect the southeast end residential area from “flash” floods. The above picture shows a crew of WPA workmen on the job. Construction of the dam, to cost $100,000, is progressing rapidly., with Mayor Charles F. Brown and City Engineer Harry Mundhenke scheduled to go to Springfield this week to obtain the state approval of bids to be asked for a 70,000 yard earth fill at the dam. The state is contributing $25,000 toward the cost of the dam, to be completed by fall.
