Perez, Joseph Benedict, MD

Born Nov. 2, 1920, in Tampa, FL, the only son of Ortirio Perez Garcia and Angela Rodrigez Lopez.

Following graduation from Jesuit High School in Tampa, he attended Loyola University in New Orleans, graduating in 1942.

He entered the U.S. Army as a bacteriologist and served four years, earning the rank of Captain.

Married 1946.

Attended Tulane Medical School, graduated 1952.

Served internship at St. Anthony Hospital, Rockford.

Following 44 years of Family Practice, Joe was appointed Assistant Administrator for Medical Staff Services at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center for 4 years.

President of Winnebago County Medical Society, Rockford School of Medicine, Illinois State Medical Society, physician for Boylan High School, Sports Medicine Award from BAMA.

Died Dec. 2, 2014.

Mandala, Salvator “Sam” J.

Born June 4, 1932

Son of Vito and Anne (Giglio) Mandala

He married the love of his life, Nina (Juliano) Mandala, who survives him

Survived by his devoted children, Vito (Nancy), John (Lorri), and Jack (Christine)

Predeceased by son, Joey and brother Jack, Dominic, and Tony

Died July 2, 2010 in OSF St. Anthony Hospital

Palmer, Donald R.

Born Aug. 9, 1926, in Erie, PA, the son of Martin W. and Ruth G. (Parker) Palmer.

Graduated from Wesleyville High School in 1944.

Donald served in the U.S. Army Air Force 365th Bomb Squadron in the European Theater from Dec. 1, 1944 – Nov. 23, 1946.

Married in Ripley, NY.

Graduate Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA in 1966.

Donald practiced Chiropractic in Cambridge, IL.

He attained 24 years of service before retiring from John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline, IL.

Died December 4, 201 in OSF St. Anthony Hospital.

No services will be held. Memorials may be directed to the American Legion Charities or American Heart Association. Cremation Society of Illinois assisted the family.

Wykle, Leo N.

Belvidere—-

He was born July 28, 1927, in Kewanee, IL, the son of Michael and Anna (Dromovich) Wykle.

Belvidere resident since 1952. Worked at Rockford Products.

Leo served in the Navy in WWII.

Died Sept 13, 2014, at OSF ST. Anthony Hospital after a brief illness.

Celebration of life at the Belvidere Funeral Home.
