Nelson, Robert C.
Born July 26, 1919, in Rockford, the son of Gust Anders and Augusta Sophia (Rosene) Nelson.
U.S. Army, April 22, 1941, served for 5 1/2 years during WWII.
Planted submarine mines across the entrance of Chesapeake Bay, VA.
Captain in Rockford Fire Dept.
Died: Sept. 2, 2014 in Presence St. Anne Center.

Rothstein, Ralph A.
Born December 8, 1917, in Haynes, ND, son of Christ and Mary Elizabeth (O’Keefe-McCarney) Rothstein.
A USNR veteran of World War II, proudly served his country from 1941 – 1945 on the USS Ancon, flagship of the Naval Amphibious Corps of the US Atlantic fleet for the invasions of North Africa, Sicily and Salerno, Italy, and Omaha Beach on D-Day, and later in the Pacific on the USS Fergus which landed troops on Guam, Saipan, Einewetok, and Hokkaido for the surrender of Japan, 1945.
retired Vice-President of Industrial Relations, Personnel and Public Relations of the former Sundstrand Corporation.
Died Jan. 3, 2014, in Presence St. Anne Center.
Fitzgerald Funeral Home; Holy Family Catholic Church; private burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rockford, at a later date.
