The house was built for Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Countryman. He moved to Rockford in 1887.

Six children were born to Countryman and his first wife Abby.  He married Anna in 1895.

He owned Countryman and Co., wholesale vegetable and fruit dealers.  He died 1927.  Anna

and 4 children (all Rockford) survived his death.

The second owners of the home were Walter R. and Celia Meier beginning in 1932.  Mr. Meier was the president and manager of Roxo Ice Cream.
