“Blaze Destroys Landmark”

“Traffic on Blackhawk Boulevard halted Friday noon as fire-equipment and spectators clogged the street as the old Blue Diamond Club building, a former car-barn for the Rockford Interurban Railway, was destroyed by fire.  The blaze for a time threatened a nearby building filled with oil. Johnson, Edward J, “Buzz”

Born Aug, 15, 1922 in Winnebago County, son of Edward J. and Gertrude May (Enery) Johnson.

WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Army, with the 10th Armor Division, from 1940 – 1945.

Died April 3, 2014, South Beloit.
