Gerry, William “Bill” J.

William “Bill” J. Gerry; born June 15, 1923, in Brooklyn, New York to Joseph and Anna (Seibel) Gerry.

Bill served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the South Pacific and in the Navy Reserves,

Studied the trombone at Julliard.

He worked as a draftsman.

Married twice.

Died Dec. 22, 2014.

Bombard, Howard C.

Howard C. Lombard

Born Feb. 2, 1920, in Harvard, IL., the son of Clayton and Mary (Kinney) Bombard.

He married in 1944, in Los Angeles, CA.

Howard served in the U.S. Navy, during WWII, in the South Pacific.

Self-employed barber 52 years.

Former member Mauh-nah-tee-see Country Club.

Died Dec. 31, 2014 in Presence St. Anne Center.

Homewood, Kenneth Carl

Born July 19, 1920 in Strawberry Point, Iowa, the son of Richard Edwin Homewood and Lorena Emma (Moser) Homewood.

Graduate Strawberry Point High School, attended University of Minnesota, then went to work for Woodward Governor Co.

He joined the Navy in 1943, where he was trained in Navy Electronics at Oklahoma A & M and Treasure Island, CA.

During WWII, he served as a radar technician in the South Pacific, surviving a Japanese bombing attack while on board the USS Orestes in December of 1944.

Ken served two terms on the Loves Park City Council, he also served on the Winnebago County Board, and on the Tinker Swiss Cottage Board, member of Court Street Methodist Church.

Died August 12, 2014.

Honquest Funeral Home; visitation and memorial service in the Van Sickle Room, Wesley Willows.

Monohan, Edward John, Jr.

Born April 24, 1920, to Mary Ann and Edward John Monohan, Sr.

Joined the U. S. Army in 1942, served 4 1/2 years, with 2 1/2 years  in South Pacific including New Guinea and South Philippines liberations.

Died May 23, 2014, in his home.
