Begun the same year the village was incorporated, members met in the home of Capt. Thomas Power.

The new stone church was completed in 1856.  The church was named after Capt. Power.  The church burned down. A second stone church was built. Capt. and Mrs, Power are interred in the church.  A school began in the church. In 1952 it was renamed Beloit Catholic High School.
