Castronovo, Vince

81, of Tempe, AZ, passed away Dec. 13, 2009. Born May 12, 1928, son of Vincent and Grace (Manzullo) Castronovo. He lived in Rockford until 1980, retired as a lieutenant with the Rockford Fire Department. He then was employed at Arizona State University as maintenance manager. He served in the US Air Force 7 years. Lifetime member of El Zaribah Shrine, Rockford Tebala Shrine. Survived by wife of 32 years, Liz, daughters Bonnie (Dave) Klagues and Gracie (Carl) Rossi. Internment in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Mesa, AZ

WWII Army Air Forces Sanden, Staff Sgt. James

Mrs. Harriett E. Sanden, 2833 Hanson St., will be presented the air medal this morning for her son, Staff Sgt. James F. Sanden who was declared missing in action after he failed to return to his base in Italy on a bombing mission in Germany two weeks ago, 19 year old Liberator gunner will be awarded the medal for the mission since it was completed before he was lost. the sergeant and his twin brother John, Jr. were graduated from East High School in 1943. In Dec., 1943 James joined the Air Force left the U.S.  Sept 9, 1944, won presidential citation within 6 weeks he was lost on his 12th mission with the 15th Air Force in the Mediterranean, Oct. 13, 1944. photo; posthumous Air Medal for meritorious achievement. Killed in Italy Nov. 11, 1944

Lantz, Terry D.

born May 15, 1940 in Los Angeles, son of Darrell K. and Hazel J. (Lillie) Lantz.

Graduated from Stillman Valley High School in 1958.

Terry served in the United States Air Force, serving in Korea.

Died June 1, 1940

Monroe Center Community Church, Farrell-Holland Gale Funeral Home, Monroe Center Cemetery.
