Born in Westergothland, Sweden, February 6, 1864

Father: August Hogland, left Sweden in late 1860s and sent for his wife and 5 children to join him.

Married Miss Emma Alander in Chicago

Came to Rockford in 1883 at age 19;   elected City Clerk eight years later (1891) age 27

President of Swedish-American Hospital

In 1890s was president of Star Furniture Company, Vice President of West End Furniture Company

In 1889 he organized Hogland Insurance Company, 1890-1909, owner of Rockford Printing Company.

Closely associated with Levin Faust and P. A. Peterson

Gifted a church organ to Emmanuel Lutheran Church
